Pattern Scanner
Automatically detect classical chart patterns across the market. Available on the Pro plan only.
What is the Pattern Scanner?
The Pattern Scanner identifies well-known technical chart patterns (triangles, head & shoulders, double tops/bottoms, etc.) across all tracked stocks. Instead of manually reviewing hundreds of charts, the scanner does it for you and surfaces stocks where patterns have formed.
Not Financial Advice Pattern detection is algorithmic and based on price geometry. Patterns do not guarantee future price movement. Always validate with additional analysis.

How It Works
Nightly Scan
- The scanner runs automatically every night after market close
- It scans all tracked stocks across two timeframes: Daily and Weekly
- Results are cached and served instantly when you open the Pattern Scanner page
No Intraday Scanning
Intraday pattern scanning is not currently supported. Patterns are detected on daily and weekly charts only.
Results
Each detected pattern shows:
- Ticker — the stock symbol
- Pattern type — which pattern was detected
- Key price points — pivot highs, pivot lows, necklines, support/resistance levels with dates
- Trendlines — the lines that define the pattern geometry
Chart Integration
Pattern Overlays
Patterns detected by the scanner can be overlaid on the stock's chart:
- Key pivot points are marked on the price chart
- Trendlines connecting the pattern's defining points are drawn
- This helps you visually confirm the pattern and assess its quality
Custom Drawings
In addition to scanner-generated patterns, you can draw your own:
- Trendlines — draw lines between any two points
- Annotations — add text notes to specific price levels or dates
- Drawings are saved per ticker and persist across sessions
Tips for Using the Pattern Scanner
- Use patterns as a starting point, not a signal — a detected pattern tells you "something interesting is forming here," not "buy/sell now"
- Combine with indicators — use RSI, volume, or moving averages to confirm the pattern's implications
- Check the timeframe — a weekly pattern carries more significance than a daily pattern
- Look at volume — patterns confirmed by volume (e.g., breakout on high volume) tend to be more reliable
- Review regularly — patterns are updated nightly; check the scanner as part of your daily routine
Next Steps
- Charts — Learn about indicators you can overlay alongside patterns
- Stock Screener — Use the screener to filter stocks that also match technical conditions
